Amy Keng, artist
Fascinated by light and strong colors, artist Amy Keng finds inspiration in nature and its landscapes, as represented in her works Sunset Shore and Varenna. She also captures vignettes of life's quiet moments, shown in NOLA Oasis. With a talent for capturing the intricate ways light sits on a subject, as in Yoda, or how refracted light glints through a space, as in Sunrise on the Green, Keng's painterly style exudes warmth and emotion, and often transports the viewer to the distant locations she frequently depicts in her paintings.
Her artistic talent reaches from paintbrush to calligrapher's pen. With the utmost lettering precision and a classically inspired technique, Keng is a skilled calligrapher with 18 years of experience.
A love for travel influences her artistic inspiration, especially visits to Colorado's mountainous back country and days spent wandering through the enchanting colors of France. She names Claude Monet and Mary Cassatt as her favorite artists — and, of course, credits her cats as inspiration.
Keng holds a BFA from University of Colorado and is a former Army sergeant. After raising two sons, she moved to Texas and resides in Dallas with her husband Greg.
